Kids Game Builder · AI game maker for kids

The AI game maker for kids who dream up games

Kids Game Builder is an AI game maker for kids 6 to 12. Your kid describes a game in their own words, AI agents write the code, and a minute later they're playing it in the browser and changing it. No coding to learn first, and you see every idea they type.

How an AI game maker works for kids

  1. They describe a game. "A goat that jumps over lava and collects stars." Their idea, their words.
  2. AI agents build it. The AI reads the game's code, writes the rules, art and sounds, and checks its own drawings, in about a minute.
  3. They play it and change it. "Make the goat jump higher." "Add a boss." "Make it a maze." Each change is one sentence.
  4. You stay in the loop. Every idea and every answer is on your family page. If you choose, you send a finished game to the free arcade, where we review it.

What kids can make

Kids aren't limited to a set of characters: they can ask for any creature, even one no game has, and the AI draws it as pixel art. Then they change it in their own words.

A pink pixel-art axolotl with frilly gills
“I want my hero to be an axolotl with frilly pink gills”
The same axolotl with bigger purple gills
Then: “make the gills bigger and purple”
A grey pixel-art robot shark with a toothy grin
“Draw a robot shark as the bad guy”
A pixel-art snail with a red, yellow and blue shell
“Draw a rainbow snail as the bad guy”

Drawn by the builder's AI from these requests in our own testing.

What kids learn by making games with AI

Directing an AI is a skill: saying clearly what you want, changing one thing at a time, playing what was built, and fixing what doesn't work. Kids practise all of it every time they ask for a change. Our guides show how: how kids write good prompts and AI game building for kids.

Built so parents stay in charge

You read every prompt and every answer, set limits and building hours, ban words, and choose how much AI power each kid gets. Kids sign in with a code from you, never an email. See every parent control and how we handle your kid's privacy.

Questions parents ask

Does my kid need to know how to code?

No. They describe what they want in their own words, and AI agents write the code. Curious kids can look at the code; in the builder's harder modes they see every file the AI writes.

What ages is an AI game maker good for?

Kids roughly 6 to 12 who can type a sentence. Younger kids do great with a grown-up typing their ideas, and older kids can switch on the builder's harder modes.

Is it safe?

The AI helper follows kid-safe rules, works only on their game, and can't browse the internet or contact anyone. Emails, phone numbers and addresses are removed from what kids type, and you see everything. See parent controls and how we handle COPPA.

What devices does it work on?

Any modern web browser. A tablet or computer with a keyboard is best for building; the games themselves play on phones, tablets and computers.

Can they share their games?

Your family can play every game your kids make. If you choose, you can send one to the free arcade, Kids Game Arcade, where we review it before it goes live.

What are sparks?

Sparks measure AI building. The plan includes 3,000 sparks a month for the whole family: a small change costs a few sparks, a new feature or a new drawing more. You choose how much AI power each kid gets.

How is it different from Scratch?

Scratch teaches kids to code step by step with blocks. Here kids direct an AI in their own words, then play, test and refine what it builds. Lots of kids enjoy both: Scratch or an AI game builder?
